MAINFRAME PROGRAMMER ANALYST, AUSTIN, TX (REMOTE)
Contract: 6 Months (3 Yrs Ext)

Job Description:
Performs advanced (senior level) computer programming in an IMS/application mainframe environment. Work involves overseeing programming projects, analyzing proposed applications, and designing software solutions. Works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
Knowledge of modern programming languages is required to ‘translate’ how the batch code will be redefined in the new language.
Ability to present findings of research in business terms clearly so requirements can be created
Ability to diagram flow for the batch programs to enhance understanding of the overall process
Hierarchal and Relational database knowledge required
Ability to read schedules in JobTrack
Ability to document those schedules by program groupings
Required Skills:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent related work experience.
5+ Yrs of Detailed knowledge of developing and maintaining IMS/application mainframe applications
5+ Yrs of CICS/BMS experience
5+ Yrs of experience in COBOL, CICS, JCL, REXX, ISPF, File-Aid or a similar product
Preferred Skills:
5+ Yrs of Hands-on experience with Mark IV
5+ Yrs of ISPF and other IBM utilities experience
5+ Yrs of Experience with File Aid
3+ Yrs of Experience with Expediter
3+ Yrs of Experience with JCL
3+ Yrs of IMS and VSAM experience
3+ Yrs of Experience reading code, understanding business rules, and modifying programs based on user requirements
