Our Client is looking for a highly motivated BIM designer to join fire protection design team. The design team drives to create the factory of the future by overseeing the design of cutting-edge large scale equipment and utility systems in support of highly innovating manufacturing processes.
What You Will Do
- Work with the Fire Protection Engineer to prepare design specification and produce Hydraulic calculations
- Produce layout, 2D construction drawings and 3D models for different fire suppression systems and life safety systems using Revit, HydraCAD, HydraCALC, Bluebeam and Navisworks
- Produce floor plans, one-line diagrams, risers diagrams, and details for fabrication
- Develop bill of materials
- Lead in-field design validation and prepare as-built drawings
- Maintain project drawing files, associated records and documentation in an orderly condition
- Develop REVIT families, standard details, and manage BIM files.
- Participate in all project phases, including conceptual designs, presentations, schematic design, design development, construction documents and production
- Collaborate with other design disciplines, construction management teams, external consultants, contractors, fabricators, regulatory agencies and other vendors to meet overall project objectives
- Assist with the review of RFI’s and submittals during the construction administration portion of the project
- Perform design option analysis for cost efficiency, constructability, etc.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in drafting technology or related field with a minimum 2 years of experience with Revit
- NICET certification for water-based fire protection systems layout
- NICET certification for special hazard protection system is preferred
- Proficiency in 2D/3D software, such as Auto CAD, Revit, Navisworks and Bluebeam
- Experience with HydraCad, HydraCalc, or other sprinkler design programs
- Knowledge of International Building Code, International Fire Code and applicable NFPA standards (NFPA 11, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 72)
- Understanding of construction assemblies, how they are fabricated and installed.

- Experience in designing Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning systems for industrial / pharmaceutical / bio-tech / semiconductor type facilities
- Plumbing and Fire Protection design experience
- Design experience with equipment including: open and/or closed circuit cooling towers, water and air cooled chillers, heat recovery chillers, gas fired and electric water boilers, 40,000 cfm or larger packaged rooftop heat pump units, packaged air to air heat pumps, water to water heat pumps, combustible / non-combustible dust collectors, high pressure water atomizing humidifiers, -50C dew point dehumidifiers, fans, pumps, thermal oxidizers, dry and wet scrubbers, heat exchangers (shell/tube, plate/frame, brazed fin), control valves and Instrumentation.
- Design experience with systems including: variable exhaust and supply, combustible dust collection, air to air, air to water and water to water heat recovery, VOC abatement, smoke removal, hazardous, general and process exhaust, DOAS, ventilation and general HVAC.
- Able to specify ductwork and pipe material and size for various systems and pressure classes
- Knowledge and experience with writing sequences of operation for HVAC systems
- Construction Administration experience including field reports, punch lists, answering RFIs, and reviewing shop drawings
- Direct experience in the preparation of mechanical contract drawings and engineering specifications
- Design piping and duct to handle thermal expansion/contraction including anchors, guides, expansion loops
- Pipe stress analysis and duct stress analysis experience
Qualifications Required:
- Minimum of 10 years HVAC and Plumbing/FP design experience
- Familiar with International Energy Conservation, Mechanical, Plumbing and Fire Protection Codes, NFPA standards, SMACNA duct construction standards, ACGIH Ventilation Practices, and ASHRAE 62 and 90.1
- Holds a PE registration and ability to be registered in any State
- Proficient in the use of following applications Trane or Carrier HAP, Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite. Experience in Caesar 2 and Pipe-flo are a plus.
- Familiar with following types of calculations: duct static pressure drop, pump head, NPSHa, fuel gas pipe sizing, steam and condensate pipe sizing.

- Coordinating with other disciplines to ensure that all technical areas are covered and that all project objectives and schedules are met
- Resolving design issues creatively and thoroughly coordinating design with other disciplines
Qualifications Required:
- Minimum of 4 years design experience using Revit to model HVAC systems including ductwork and piping
- Work experience should include projects from the following: commercial offices, mission critical/data centers, bio-tech, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, industrial
- Must be proficient in the following: Trane or Carrier HAP, Revit, AutoCAD
- Familiar with following types of calculations: duct static pressure drop, pump head, NPSHa
- Basic knowledge of the following: International Mechanical code, SMACNA duct construction standards, ASHRAE 62 and 90.1
- Able to become a registered Professional Engineer within 1-2 years
- Plumbing and Fire Protection design experience is a plus
