Sr. FIELD ENGINEER, ROBSTOWN, TX

Job Description:·   

This role will pro-actively aid the Construction Management team in front-line field support and coordination. This role will require collaboration across functional groups to resolve technical design issues, ensure quality installations, track and report cost/schedule metrics, and model safe work practices. This is a role that requires sound technical judgement and creative problem solving skills to support field operations.

What You’ll Do:

  • Review and approve contractor quality plans and procedure

  • Develop Inspection Test Plans with contractors per project specifications

  • Construction QC/QA - perform/witness required inspections of self-perform and contractor construction work

  • Management of RFI/FCN/NCR processes

  • Review and consolidate turnover documentation

  • Identify and provide a path of resolution to technical field issues as they arise in collaboration with engineering, applicable contractors, and other parties as required

  • Coordinate third party inspections as required

  • Support development/review of project scopes of work, cost estimates, schedules, work plans, and resource requirements

  • Evaluate contractor change orders and provide recommendations to project management

  • Assist safety personnel with accident investigations

  • Ensure all field activities are being executed per project specifications, procedures, and current design documents

What You’ll Bring:

  • Degree in engineering or applicable equivalent technical field experience

  • 3- 8+ years of relevant industry experience (heavy industrial, oil & gas, complex chemical plants) 

  • Previous experience on $200M+ projects, preferably with experience on both “owner” and “contractor” side

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation skills are a must

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, and scheduling software (Microsoft Projects) 

  • Proven ability to identify field issues and propose efficient solutions

  • Willingness to spend a high percentage of time in the field and to get hands dirty as needed to complete objectives or find the correct information

  • Ability to work within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with extremely tight timelines and aggressive goal
